Previously Owned Breeders/Pets

This page is for images of peafowl we've owned or borrowed for breeding purposes! Some of them have crossed the rainbow bridge, others went back home after producing babies, some moved to new homes via sale.

Osiris

Osiris was our first-ever peahen- a dark pied out of silver pied parents. She was hand-raised with her brother, Blu, and was friendly and nosy until the day we lost her to egg-binding. She is fondly remembered, and buried beneath a cherry tree in our orchard.

Blu

Blu was the first peacock we ever kept at the farm, sister to Osiris. He was well-loved by the hens and everyone that visited, and we got him ramps and accommodations, and he even produced some of my favorite birds, including Aris!

Aurora

Matriarch of the farm for 16 years, Aurora was a blue pied hen with us since our very beginning, in 2009. She came to us just a few months old, and was a solid presence throughout our history. She was an absolutely fantastic mother, raising chicks faithfully every year (even if most of the time they weren't hers, genetically!), and keeping the rest of the hens in line. Aris and Bug are her daughters, and I am so grateful to have her legacy on the farm still!

Stan Lee

Stan Lee was a cameo blackshoulder dark pied white eye male who came to us as a chick at just a few days old. His owner could not fix Stan's severe toe, leg, and hip problems. It took us a few days, but we managed to get all of his joints back into place enough that he could walk. We would find as he grew that he had many other health issues, from a disconnected wing joint that precluded him from flying, to neurological issues that affected how he saw things and balanced. He stayed around 8lbs his entire life, and was a goofy little guy that would befriend any other bird that came near him. He absolutely adored his lady friend, Artemis- where there was one, there was the other. We finally opted for a kind end after he lost vision completely in both eyes and was unable to stay on his feet without vision. He had a HUGE personality, and I miss him often.

Artemis

Artemis was a purple pied blackshoulder hen, and she was my little painter. Since she was handled often as a baby due to her poor immune system, she became habituated to humans, and we ended up doing enrichment one-on-one with her, producing beautiful paintings together- in fact, if you've ever gotten a business card from me, it's her footprints on the front! I still have her first and last paintings, hanging on my walls. Artemis was housed with Stan Lee, as neither of them were breeding quality birds, and she adored him so much. She passed on shortly after he did, from medical complications. I hope they found each other again, somewhere out there.

Arcana

Arcana was a purple blackshoulder pied hen (and absolute gremlin) who came to us in September of 2019, from Spring Creek Peafowl. We actually drove 15 hours each way to pick her up, and I have no regrets. She was a fantastic bird and mother, even if she was always a terrible broody. Her favorite past time was sitting on top of another broody hen for the last week of their nest, and pretending all of the babies were also hers. She passed away in December 2025 to an aspergillus infection.

Poppa P.

We borrowed Poppa P. (now Indigo/Indy) in 2023 from Irish Springs Peafowl USA to breed to some of our hens. Indy is a gorgeous example of a purple blackshoulder, and carries no leucistic genes. He was also extremely gentle and friendly, and this reflects positively in his offspring, who have also tended to be very human friendly and interactive.

Onyx

Onyx was a purple blackshoulder hen who carried a leucistic gene. She came to us 2021 as a 3-month old chick, along with her half-sister, Opal. Her favorite trick is to play dirty and make the hawk alarm call when I throw out treats, so that everyone else hides and she can eat as much as she wants. Onyx (along with one of her 2024 daughters) went to a new home in Ohio in February of 2025!

Polaris

Polaris is the guiding star of our farm. Born in 2021, he was an instant stand out, one of the few purple blackshoulder pied birds hatched here at the time. By the time he was 2 years old, we could see signs of the white-eye gene, but we never expected how beautiful his speckled train would be!

Eclipse is a purple silver pied hen that came to us in 2015 from a local bird swap. She's the flightiest of our birds, but is a fierce, protective mother. Polaris is her bio son! She left our farm in 2024, on breeding loan to Irish Springs Peafowl, to make some babies with Poppa P! She was much beloved by my friends running that farm and by Poppa P, so when I picked up the 2025 offspring, I elected to let my friends keep her. I think she'll like their winters better than Michigan ones!

Opal

Opal is a purple hen who carries blackshoulder and a leucistic gene. She came to us 2021 as a 3-month old chick, along with her half-sister, Onyx. Their father was Indie/Poppa P. She was a good mom and a great bird, but was very attached to Polaris and I didn't want to separate them. She left in 2025 with Polaris, to settle in their new home together.

Gemini

Gemini is a purple peacock out of our Polaris, hatched in 2024. He was born a chimera- his right side is barred like normal, and his left side is colored as a blackshoulder mutation. After seeing his gentle disposition with the hens and chicks in 2025, we finally decided to keep him on, instead of his father. He has not disappointed in the color department, either! He practically glows in the light. He was moved to another farm in 2026, due to incompatibility issues with birds here.
