The Gentlemen
Gemini
Gemini is a purple peacock out of our Polaris, hatched in 2024. He was born a chimera- his right side is barred like normal, and his left side is colored as a blackshoulder mutation. After seeing his gentle disposition with the hens and chicks in 2025, we finally decided to keep him on, instead of his father. He has not disappointed in the color department, either! He practically glows in the light, and I am very hopeful that he will be able to breed.
Earl Grey
Earl is a VERY special boy, brought to us in 2024 by Spring Creek Peafowl in Marion, KS. Our friend Bill imported Earl's father from Europe, in order to bring over a color no one else in the US had owned before: European Violet! Earl was quite nervous around us at first, but in just a few short months, he began coming over to get treats with everyone else! We're greatly looking forward to working with him, as European violet was a color we've wanted for years and never dreamed we'd actually have on the farm- and he's already given us two beautiful EV daughters!
The Ladies
Aris
Aris was hatched on site in 2017 by our lone farm turkey, Joslin. She was one of five, and initially assigned the name "RS" for "right spot" as she had a spot of color on the right side of her neck. Her sister, Ellis ("LS" for left spot) and brother Des ("DS" for double spot) have since moved on, but Aris was too beautiful to let go. She's an absolute star mother, raising multiple chicks every year and tolerating her yearlings long past when other mothers - even her own! - get cranky about it.
Corona
Corona is a purple dark pied hen and likely split to blackshoulder. She was hatched here in 2020 and raised by her mother, Aris. She got off to a rocky start being a mom, sitting Aris' nest with her as a yearling, and setting her own questionable nest her second year. In 2024, she got the hang of it, and raised her first three beautiful chicks. Her father was Orion.
Opal
Opal is a purple hen who carries blackshoulder and a leucistic gene. She came to us 2021 as a 3-month old chick, along with her half-sister, Onyx. Their father was Indie/Poppa P.
Stella
Stella is a purple blackshoulder hen bred here at Longfeather Lane in 2021. She carries one of the leucistic genes. Stella was raised by our nine year old turkey hen, Joslin - the last clutch Joslin would ever raise for us - and has since proven her stellar (badum tish) personality and grown into her beautiful, typey frame. She continues to be playful, inquisitive, and gentle.
Wendy
Wendy is a classic blue peahen that came to us in 2023 through a local distress call. She had shown up at someone's house, and because we are known in our area for our peafowl, we were called in to capture her. She was only 10 months old or so, and ended up being so incredibly friendly that we decided to keep her! She has a LOT of opinions and does not let the other birds (or me!) push her around! Wendy's favorite (regrettable) trick is undoing pen door latches using the human "oh no I closed the door and locked myself in" string... we have some suspicions about how she escaped her previous home.
Heather
Heather is a classic blue peahen bred by west Michigan's Derek Anderson. She came to us in 2024 already 2 years old, after we began searching for a second plain blue hen to breed to Earl. As of July, 2024, she was introduced to Earl's pen, and after a brief conversation with Stella, became a part of their flock!
Beryl
Beryl is a purple blackshoulder (het leucistic) hatched from Poppa P's pen in 2025. Her mother was either Eclipse or Arcana, and her hatchmate brother is Jasper.
